Lychnos privacy policy

Lychnos is a Stoic philosophy journal for iPhone, iPad and Android, published by GABRIEL RIGON TECNOLOGIA LTDA, CNPJ 33.908.632/0001-07, Av. Saúde, 555, Saúde, Mogi Mirim/SP, CEP 13800-700, Brasil ("we"). This policy explains which data the app handles, where it is kept and what your rights are. It applies in every country where the app is distributed and was written to comply with Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD), the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) where applicable, U.S. state privacy laws and the data protection laws of the other countries in the Americas.
1. Summary
- Lychnos has no account, sign-up or login.
- We have no servers that receive your data. What you write, record and mark stays on your device, encrypted.
- The app has no ads, uses no analytics, tracking or crash-reporting tools, and does not sell or share data.
- Your data only leaves the device when you decide: when you turn on sync with your own iCloud or Google Drive, export your journal or share a line.

We have no access to any of this data.
Journal content and sensitive data. Reflections are free text and audio. You may record in them information that data protection laws treat as sensitive, such as religious or philosophical beliefs, health and sex life (for example LGPD art. 11 and GDPR art. 9). The app does not ask for this information, does not analyze or classify it and does not send it to us. It stays encrypted on the device and, if you turn on sync, in your own cloud, also encrypted. Only you decide whether it leaves the device, by exporting or sharing.
3. Sync (optional)
If you turn on sync, an encrypted copy of your reflections and progress is sent to a private area of your iCloud (Apple) or Google Drive (Google) account that does not appear among your files. The data is encrypted on the device before it is sent, and we have no access to that area. To restore on another device, the key is kept in iCloud Keychain or Google Block Store, protected by Apple or Google. In that case, Apple or Google store the encrypted files under their own privacy policies, including on servers outside your country.
You can turn sync off at any time in Settings. To delete the cloud copy, use the iCloud or Google Drive storage management on your device.
4. Microphone
The microphone is only used when you tap to record a spoken reflection. The recording stays on the device, encrypted, and is not sent to us or analyzed.
5. Notifications
Morning and evening notifications are scheduled on the device itself. No server sends you notifications.
6. Purchases
Purchases (Lychnos Complete and tips) are made through the App Store or Google Play. Payment and billing data stay with Apple or Google. The app only receives confirmation that the purchase was made.
7. Export and share
When you export your journal (PDF or Markdown) or share a line as an image or text, the file leaves the app unencrypted to the destination you choose, and from then on follows that destination's rules. Temporary files are deleted from the app after sharing.
8. Children and teenagers
Lychnos is rated for ages 12 and up (13+ on the App Store). It is not directed to children, does not collect personal data on servers, has no ads or profiling and does not allow contact between users.
9. Your rights
Data protection laws give you rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and information, among others. Because your data stays on your device and in your own cloud, you exercise these rights directly in the app:
- access and portability: export your journal as PDF or Markdown;
- correction: edit your reflections;
- deletion: delete reflections in the app, uninstall the app to erase everything from the device and delete the sync copy in iCloud or Google Drive.

10. Security
Data is encrypted with AES-256-GCM and excluded from the system's automatic backups. The key is kept in the system's secure storage (Keychain or Android Keystore). If you lose your device without having turned on sync, the data cannot be recovered, not even by us.
11. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with its update date. Important changes will also be announced in the app.
12. This website
The lychnos.app website uses no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. To count visits, it uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not identify visitors and only shows aggregate numbers, such as how many people saw each page and from which country. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site online, secure and useful (LGPD, art. 7, IX). If you email us, we use your message only to reply. The Lychnos app uses no analytics tools.
